Promoting Open Source Technology in Vietnam
The Saigon Linux Group actively promotes open source technology in Vietnam. It is currently sponsoring the Vietnam Professional Linux/Unix Group (ViPLUG) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, to encourage the use of OST in the professional business environment. Through ViPLUG, the Saigon Linux Group will continue to maintain the Vietnam BSD/Linux Mirror in Vietnam.
In 2007, the Saigon Linux Group was featured in CNet’s Vietnam a Crouching Tech Tiger. In 2008, the Saigon Linux Group helped Google obtain their venue with the first ever DevFest in Vietnam. Members of the Saigon Linux Group also helped organize and obtain the venue at RMIT Vietnam for the first Barcamp Saigon in 2008. The Saigon Linux Group is currently hosting the Barcamp Saigon website.
